There is a meeting at lunch today for all students interested in being members of ASB Student Council for the 2012-2013 school year.

All NHS Members: your log of your volunteer hours for quarter 3 and 4 are due by the end of May.  Extra forms are in Ms. C classroom.  Please submit them to Ms. C by the end of May in order to remain eligible for NHS.

 

All students interested in participating as a reader, altar server, gift bearer, or Eucharistic Minister, or greeter for our last mass of the school year please join us for a meeting in room 17 on Monday during lunch.  Grab your lunch and join us for a quick meeting.... 

If you want to take an Honors or AP class next year, but you do not quite have the required grades, remember that if you are motivated to do the work, you can ask your teacher for a recommendation to allow you to take the class.

Students will improve fluency and accuracy in Spanish. Girls Volleyball Try outs will be held from May 22nd-May24th from 4:40 pm to 6:30 pm in the Coach C Gym.  To try out all girls need a current physical.  To find out if you have a current physical in file go to the Athletic Department office in the library.

Coach C was honored with a naming of a street sign on Saturday, May 12th. 1 block of Laurel Street has been renamed Coach C Lane.  During his 41 years coaching and teaching at Santa Clara, Cvijanovich, 85, of Oxnard was the only coach in the state to win CIF titles in basketball, football and baseball. He attended the ceremony wearing his game-day red tie and the red socks he wore from the last state championship basketball game his team won in 1999 before he retired that year.

Cvijanovich led the school to a record 829 wins as head coach in boys basketball, including 15 CIF titles and three state titles. As football coach for 17 years, he led the team to two CIF titles, and during his 12 years coaching baseball, Santa Clara achieved one CIF title as an undefeated team. Cvijanovich was inducted into the National High School Hall of Fame in 1997, as well as several additional regional and state halls of fame.

Boys Golf
Patrick Holden earne the MVP for the Frontier League with a scoring average of 77.83.
Jack Holden was named 1 ST team all League # 2 with a scoring average of 83.83 . 
Emilio Lopez was named 2 ND team all  League # 4 with a scoring average of 90.83.
Raul Sanchez had an all League Honorable Mention with a scoring average of 94.60..
 
This is an awesome outcome for a hard fought Frontier League. The Santa Clara Golf team finished in Second place. Villanova had team points of 32, Santa Clara had 29 points, Carpinteria had 28 points, Fillmore had 14 points, Santa Paula had 13 Points, and Bishop Diego had 10 points. Please join me in congratulating these outstanding athletes. What a great season they had!!
 
Baseball
Congratulations to our baseball team has qualified for the CIF-Southern Section Division 6 playoffs.  They will open up at Brentwood School (100 S Barrington Pl, Los Angeles, CA 90049) on Thursday at 4 pm.  Early out will be 1 pm and the team will leave at 1:30 pm.

Softball
Congratulations to our Girls Softball team for qualifying for the CIF-Southern Section Division 6 playoffs.  The team will travel to Indio today to play Shadow Hills High School at 3:15 pm.  Early out at 10:00AM

2.5 elective credits. Credit (CR) / No Credit (NCR). This course will provide students with vital skills, strategies, and the practice that can lead to greater success on the AP Calculus Exam.  It is recommended for students who have received a passing grade in Pre-Calculus and want to enhance their experience in taking AP Calculus in the next school year.

Session 2 (7/9 – 7/25): Advanced Humanities (English/Social Science) Academy (EN07)

We are on regular schedule.

 

Fiesta results are in.  The final totals are: Seniors brought in $11,964 (107.8%).  Juniors brought in $11,170 (105.2%).  Sophomores brought in $12,926 (102.6%) and Freshmen brought in $7709 (100.8%).  As a school we brought in $43,769 (104.2%).  No classes reached 110% and therefore no spirit wear has been awarded.  The Seniors took first place and will have a Topper’s Pizza Party this Friday, May 4 at lunch.

Girls Volleyball Try outs will be held from May 22nd-May24th from 4:40 pm to 6:30 pm in the Coach C Gym.  To try out all girls need a current physical.  To find out if you have a current physical in file go to the Athletic Department office in the library.

We are on regular schedule.

Fiesta results are in. The final totals are: Seniors brought in $11,964 (107.8%). Juniors brought in $11,170 (105.2%). Sophomores brought in $12,926 (102.6%) and Freshmen brought in $7709 (100.8%). As a school we brought in $43,769 (104.2%). No classes reached 110% and therefore no spirit wear has been awarded. The Seniors took first place and will have a Topper’s Pizza Party this Friday, May 4 at lunch.

Seniors in NHS, Please remember your stole order forms and payment, in addition to your volunteer logs for 3rd and 4th quarter are due by Friday. Turn all into Ms. C in room 17.....
