Santa Clara High School (SCHS) is committed to delivering an unparalleled Catholic, college preparatory education to young people of all economic backgrounds. In order to ensure affordability for all and fulfill our educational mission, SCHS offers a variety of scholarship and tuition grants to qualified students. Students are informed of scholarships and grants in their acceptance package, and may apply for up to two scholarships. The following scholarships and tuition grants are offered to students that meet the specified requirements:
The Principals Scholarship
The Principal Scholarship/Ella & Henry Sieland Scholarship is the most prestigious award offered by SCHS. The Principal Scholarship/ Ella & Sieland Scholarship is awarded to a selected student who has demonstrated academic excellence, leadership and exemplary service qualities. This scholarship is awarded to an incoming 9th grade students for a tuition free Plan B (full ride) scholarship for 4 years. A maximum of one may be awarded to a select incoming 9th grade student with a 3.5-4.0 GPA. The Principal Scholarship/ Ella & Henry Sieland recipient is selected solely by the SCHS Scholarship Selection Committee.
Eligible incoming 9th grade students are required to complete an application package containing the following materials:
1. A handwritten letter submitted by the student which includes a brief biography, reasons why he/she wants to attend SCHS, and how he/she has demonstrated distinguished service and leadership in school or his/her community
2. An official school transcript that verifies a 3.5- 4.0 GPA or higher throughout 7th and 8th grades
3. Two confidential letters of recommendation (which can be written by your middle school principal, 8th grade teacher, and/or local community leaders) on official letterheads verifying:
A. Academic awards and/or recognition of leadership
B. Service within the middle school and/or the local community
4. A High School Placement Test (HSPT) score in the top percentage of the incoming class and must test at SCHS for the exam.
5. An interview with the committee for finalists.
Completed application packages should be clearly marked in the left hand corner with “The Principal Scholarship Scholarship Application” and delivered to the SCHS Admissions Office no later than February 5, 2023.

Community Excellence Scholarship - $1,500
In keeping with SCHS’ mission to form upright citizens, the Community Excellence Scholarship is awarded to one student who demonstrates exemplary service and leadership skills in a school, parish or local community. Examples of service and/or leadership activities include involvement in Girls/Boys’ Scouts, Boys and Girls Club, altar serving, student government, peer tutoring, camp counseling, etc. Eligible 8th grade student must be nominated by their school’s Principal/Administration based on the above criteria. Once selected, the student is required to complete an application package containing the following materials:

Academic Honors at Entrance Scholarships- $1,500
In keeping with SCHS’ mission to form Academically Sound citizens prepared for the rigors of college and life, the school offers the Academic Honors at Entrance scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to applicants whose GPA for their 8th grade year was above 3.5.

3. Official transcripts and/or final report cards

Visual & Performing Arts (VPA) Merit Scholarship - $1,500
The VPA Merit Scholarship reflects SCHS’s commitment to the Visual and Performing Arts. Exposing students to music, theatre, and the visual arts allows them to experiment, hone talents, and express themselves in rich and varied ways. Through their creative endeavors, our students add dimension to themselves, their school, and their community. Eligible applicants include talented musicians, dancers, actors/actresses, singers and artists who merit special recognition.
Eligible incoming 9th grade students are required to complete an application package (available online) containing the following materials:
1. Completed Scholarship application form
2. Two letters of recommendation (on official letterhead) from supervising activity moderators, including a clear description and assessment of the applicant’s artistic talents
3. Any original video, recording, photo, painting, or illustration verifying the student’s unique talent

Legacy Discount - $500 (Renewable)
Santa Clara High School is committed to supporting all family members seeking a SCHS education. The Legacy Scholarship provides an award for deserving legacy students at SCHS. The SCHS Alumni Legacy Scholarship is awarded to students who demonstrate a commitment to the excellence of SCHS and the community through academic achievements, leadership and involvement in campus clubs and organizations.
Eligibility - To be considered for the SCHS Alumni Legacy Scholarship, students must: Be an incoming 9th grade student; Have favorable academic merit of above 3.0; Have a parent, step-parent, grandparent, and/or sibling who is an SCHS alumnus/a.

Military Discount - $500 (Renewable)
Dependents of active duty personnel, reserve/guard and retired military members, or survivors of deceased members, may apply for this scholarship. Applicants should ensure that they, as well as their sponsor, are currently enrolled in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) database and that they have a current ID card. The DEERS database will be the primary method of verifying eligibility.
SCHS School Sibling Discount -$250 (Renewable)
Santa Clara High School is committed to supporting all family members seeking a SCHS education. Families with two or more children enrolled at SCHS are eligible for a tuition discount. A $1,000 sibling discount is granted to families who do not apply for financial aid and/or do not qualify for other scholarships, tuition grants or awards. The discount is applied to the oldest attending student’s tuition costs. Students must maintain a 2.50 GPA to continue receiving this discount.
